Unreal

Cesium Plugin

As it seems Epic is not slowing down in their conquest of the (digital) world. They’ve just released a Cesium plugin, which is their latest addition to the Unreal family, bringing high-quality 3D geospatial data into the real-time scene. In layman terms, it means that you can stream real environments during runtime. As usual, there is much more involved than what meets the eye at a first glance: as we’re talking about real-time rendering this all needs to be optimised and streamlined.

It can seamlessly stream complete cities, factories, and all other sorts of geographical features. We did some tests on release day and we were completely blown away. It’s well documented and fairly easy to use. They even published a selection of unreal maps focusing on different features and use cases.
