Design and development of a visitor centre at the heart of a new zoological experience.
Recursive have been appointed to carry out Needs Analysis and Scheme design for entire AV requirements at Chester Zoo’s new Grasslands project.
The North of England Zoological Society (NEZS) is the organisation that runs Chester Zoo and our conservation campaign, Act For Wildlife. It was formed by the zoo’s founder, George Mottershead, in 1934 and is a registered charity. Their mission is preventing extinction as well as working hard to make sure our visitors have an AMAZING day out, as well as leading the way to protecting endangered wildlife around the world.
Recursive’s brief is to design technology systems covering the bespoke designed African inspired Grasslands education and hospitality building at Chester Zoo as part of their long-term goal to “Zone” the Zoo.
Our role is to initially design interactive projection systems and background audio systems for the Grasslands restaurant and education space. We have also taken the opportunity to look at other more engaging and flexible ideas to intrigue and wow visitors which are in the process of being presented to the design team at Chester zoo to allow them to consider future expansion and updating of interactive elements within the building.
