The client
A leading global management consulting firm
Kearney (formally A.T.Keaney) is a leading global management consulting firm with more than 3,600 people working in more than 40 countries. They work with more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500, as well as with the most influential governmental and non-profit organizations. 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of Kearney’s presence in the UK, having first opened an office here in 1968. This seemed a fitting time to relocate their office and Recursive were lucky enough to work with the global management firm.

The brief
Solid sensible technology
Following a competitive bid and interview process, Kearney appointed Recursive to the project design team. With a mandate to provide Audiovisual and IT infrastructure design services across all project phases, Recursive quickly began working with Kearney and other members of the design team to ensure client requirements were captured. Information was gathered from users to inform the process and allow the coordination of technology requirements. The stunning new office layout put together by Resonate Interior Architects included a large number of client meeting rooms and staff project rooms all of which needed AV/IT fit-out. Recursive understood very quickly that simple and effective systems were key to the Kearney, and that the technology deployed had to be a facilitator to productive and meaningful collaboration between individuals, whether colleagues or clients and whether in the room, on the road or otherwise remote from the office. Recursive took this as a principle for the design, with any complexity behind the scenes being invisible to the user, whether they were familiar with this system or using it for the first time it had to be intuitive to use and just work.

The challenge
Specifications were competitively tendered
Our design utilised the latest conferencing technology which provides high quality audio microphones and loudspeakers with HD cameras in a compact configuration. With a simple connection of a USB and HDMI cable soft codecs such as Skype or Webex on users’ laptops get the best possible in room experience. We were also responsible for designing the IT infrastructure including Wi-Fi WAP placement, which was done using specialist measuring tools to predict where the WAP’s should be located to ensure complete coverage. Our designs and specifications were then competitively tendered to specialist technology contractors and Recursive managed the whole installation, commissioning and sign off process to ensure quality and reliability was maintained throughout.

The Outcome
Overwhelming response
Since the project has been completed and Kearney staff have moved into their new building the overwhelming response has been about the reliability and ease of use of the systems which have been deployed. So much so that we have been appointed to continue with Kearney on a long-term contract to assist with their inevitable expansion and allowing the technology to grow as their needs and wants change to match the business needs.
